Who am I?

I am a psychiatric nurse, wife, mother to 4 rambunctious boys, and am living with bipolar disorder. My life is full and messy. Sometimes I’m doing well and other times I’m not. I’m here to shed some truthful light on what life is actually like when you live with a mental health disorder.

Mental health has become the new “it” thing to talk about these days. Everyone can relate to occasional anxiety and most are now comfortable talking about depression. But the second someone says, “I hear voices,” or “hospitalization” or the words Bipolar Disorder or Schizophrenia, suddenly they fall silent and the air in the room become very uncomfortable. We’ve got a long way to go before we bring understanding to these conditions and reduce stigma. That’s why I created this blog - so people can see that even those of us with serious mental illness can lead full lives and offer hope to those who have maybe lost theirs along their jounrey.
